Closure of the project UI-CAN – Universities as an interface for Entrepreneurship
On June 6, the closing event of the UI-CAN project – Universities as an interface for Entrepreneurship took place at the Rectory of the University of Aveiro. Present were the Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro - Alexandra Queirós; João Borga - Member of the COMPETE Steering Committee and Marta Marques – Coordinator of UACOOPERA.
This project, led by the University of Aveiro, brought together several Universities from the North region (University of Porto, Beira Interior, Minho and Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro), Centro (University of Aveiro and Coimbra) and Alentejo (University of Évora), which together promoted the entrepreneurial spirit, mobilizing university knowledge for the creation of new companies that respond to social and societal challenges in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The pitches of the winning projects in each University were made:
- University of Coimbra: Biosun Tech – Technologies for clean waters
- University of Porto: BBIT20 – Cancer treatment
- University of Beira Interior: Papilloma – HPV Treatment
- University of Minho: Screen4Health -Treatment of rare diseases
- University of Évora: Nano wound care – Wound care
- University of Aveiro: Susano – Specialized virtual assistant
- University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro: RabbitXYsort – Artificial insemination of rabbits to increase profitability.
This time the three best projects were selected, being in 1st place the project of the University of Porto, in 2nd place that of the University of Beira Interior and in third place that of the University of Minho.
